Fresh England or Chesapeake Colonies

When Columbus first arrived on the shores of the Bahamas, he thought he had learned a new passageway to the Indies. However , what he had discovered was more valuable. With all the discovery of the entirely fresh and exclusive world came the avarice and competition from Countries in europe. This competition, paired with the uncertainty of life in Europe, triggered many people following in Columbus's trek to discover North and South usa. Eventually, Britain seemed to master in United states, and produced colonies including the New England and Chesapeake colonies. These types of colonies, although both English in origin, evolved socially, economically and religiously in two completely different regions by simply 1700.

The Chesapeake and New Great britain colonies fascinated different types of settlers and, simply by 1700, the populations differed greatly. In New England, society was performed up of mainly white and English settlers. As demonstrated in a ship's list of emigrants (Document B), most emigrants were households with partners and wives, along with their kids and some servants. Many of these persons came for the religious liberty that was offered in the newest World. The Chesapeake nest, on the other hand, was focused on tobacco, and therefore captivated single guys who can work as indentured servants. Later on, the majority of the inhabitants would become African Us citizens. In Document C, a ship's set of emigrants to Virginia, that shows seventy five emigrants, all of these are single, and sixty four which are males. The lack of women eventually resulted in more ethnic diversity in Virginia as well, because many mulatto children were delivered.

Along with their interpersonal differences, the two colonies differed in their economic system. The Chesapeake colony was more focused in profit than New Britain. As stated before, the Chesapeake colony was dependent upon all their tobacco plantations. This resulted in the progression of servant trade, and an increase in the amount of indentured maids....
