Like has many diverse meanings to different people plus the way Sharon Odds and Andrew Marvell describe love is definitely diverse and unique, they both have different landscapes of how love and sexual intercourse should be indicated. In " Sex without Love" by simply Sharon Olds the speaker presents a definite view of the use of irony. She also uncovers disgust intended for casual love-making. She captures the embarrassing act of immoral sexual and animates it with her vocabulary structure. Her use of symbolism creates a picture in the viewers mind. The elements which have been compared with the thought of sex devoid of love are generally seen as fabulous circumstances, yet due to word choice these ingredients quickly turn into a disturbing scene as the poem develops. Andrew Marvell in " To his coy Mistress” has a diverse idea of just how love and sex ought to develop. The speaker tries to encourage his woman to surrender her virginity to him and conveys a negative, selfish look at of life that sees the only escape from the hopelessness of a without life eternity in the physical pleasures of sexual intimacy.

Because the poem beings, Olds uses a series of objects that seem flawlessly normal for the eye, like the ice boarders, new delivered babies, and runners, but these word imply more than a affirmation. Olds starts to answer her own query with a metaphor; " Beautiful as dancers, gliding over each other just like ice skaters, over ice, " (2) the use of the ice skater seems simplistic but looking much deeper, ice skaters are just performers performing a great act that needs to be faked to be able to show happiness and splendor.
