The Namib Wilderness is a parched and rippled desert, an endless expanse. This stretches along the wouthwest shoreline of Africa from Angola in the north, through Namibia, into South Africa. The identity Namib means " anxiety. " Regarding 1, seven-hundred km (1, 060 mi long and 100 km (60 mi) large, the wasteland is bordered on the west by the Ocean Ocean. The Namib has a approximate area of 170, 500 sq kilometers (65, 640 sq mi). It goes up from marine level 914 m (3, 000 ft). Temperatures typical 16 degrees C (60 deg F). Sands, differing from yellow to crimson in color, form sand hills reaching 240 m (800 ft) in height. The annual rainfall averages only 25 mm (1 in), although high humidness results in fog and dew. In the north deeep valleys have been cut by fields. The area's main streams, the Fruit and the Cunene, follow the the southern area of and northern borders, correspondingly, of Maltahohe, namibia. One water, the Queeseb, is made of normal water collected coming from over 160 km (100 mi) inward. The Queeseb causes drinking water holes, which is why many organisms rely on for water besides the actual water itself. Acacia trees develop along the estuaries and rivers, and brief grasses and succulents flourish everywhere. One of the important family pets of the area is the baboon. The baboons excavate for underground drinking water that many additional animals depend on. There are many additional animals which have adapted to live in the Namib desert farther away from the estuaries and rivers and streams including forty five species of lizards and more than 200 species of beetles. The nocturnal gecko, like many other animals, burrows in the sand to escape home buying heat, seventy seven deg C (170 degrees F). The palmado gecko drinks the moisture that forms on its own body in the fog and dew, as does the sidewinder snake.
